FrustratedTpFans Chat tomorrow
Mood:  cool
Now Playing: Babydoll (Mariah Carey)
Topic: Campaign TPM
To celebrate 6 months as a group (Feb 19th, 2005) we'll have 2 chats (instead of just 1) to accomodate fans from all over the world. Let's hope we actually have some showing up! The chat will be in FrustratedTpFans chat room so only group members will be able to join in. I hope that will not be a problem! Our back up plan if the chat room proves to be difficult, is to use Yahoo Messenger Conference Chat times: 8pm EST tomorrow (Fri 25th), and 8am EST on Saturday 26th. Click to the group's message #1091 for the various global time equivalents that I felt would be relevant to group members. We have 161 members now, and over 300 signatures on our campaign petitions. Not too shabby but we could do better!! There are Pretender fans out there! I discovered one in a fellow Mariah Carey fan!! What a lovely coincidence! (Hello to Stephanie!! Thanks for posting on the website!)

Create the hype

Today I read the following....
"Most businesses have their 'heroes'. They're the trend-setters who lay the foundation for the rest to follow.

In the publicity business, the real trend-setters are the Press Agents. They're the people who literally 'create' news stories.

They're people like George Evans. His company was hired to take a relatively unknown Vegas lounge singer called Frank Sinatra and try to make him into a star. Evans hired a dozen girls, at $5 each, to jump and scream 'Oh Frankie, Oh Frankie' and toss flowers at the stage. They met and practiced in the basement at the Paramount Casino where Sinatra was performing.

Jack Keller, Evan's West Coast partner explains what happened:

'We hired girls to scream when he sexily rolled a note. The dozen girls we hired to scream an swoon did exactly as we told them. But hundreds more we didn't hire screamed even louder. Others squealed, howled, kissed his pictures with their lipsticked lips, and kept him a prisoner in his dressing room between shows at the Paramount. It was wild, crazy, completely out of control.'

And it continued to be for many years. Sinatra was now an established star thanks to a 'media campaign' that only cost the promoters a total of $60 paid to a handful of women to act crazy."
Excerpted from Making Up A News Story, Legally by Paul Hartunian (http://www.site-reference.com/Marketing/5271/index.html)

And I immediately thought, "this is why I believe in Campaign TPM!!" It's because I know all we need is enough ppl to start the making a fuss to get the other people to join in and make all their voices heard by the PTBs. I just know that if ppl knew about the show, or if more fans knew about the campaign we could achieve something fantastic if we all start to "scream" for tP!

Cheers,
Antoinette (Miss Parker/missparkr)

"The Pretender" through the eyes of the ordinary person...
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Boy (I Need You) - Mariah Carey
Topic: Campaign TPM
Cassy (Italy) always has awesome ideas! She came up with this brilliant one today about getting the opinions of ordinary people, i.e. non-fanatics, (people who are not like me!) on a website somewhere, that can act as proof to the PTBs that if they finance another tP movie, they will have an audience. So I quickly posted a brief introduction on the Campaign TPM website and sent out a round of emails and made a couple of forum posts. Cassy also promised to do her share (still to be updated on that LOL) and I know how good she is at this so I expect a huge response!! I hope for the best. It would be phenomenal (and definitely make an impact) if we could actually get 1 million comments on the site....but I wonder if we have server space for all that! LOL What do you think about "The Pretender"? Would you want to watch more having seen the show? Post a comment and let inquiring minds know!

Frustrated tP Fans Update - Oct 2, 2004
It's me again. We have 109 members. *applauds* We have one bouncing member and a few have left the group. Perhaps I should add in the Group's description "only serious pretender fans need join if you are passionate about getting a 3rd movie made".

The Online petition has 78 signatures - lots of NOs. *shakes head in disgust*

The Gopetition has 89 signatures! *applauds* Fans on this "back-up" petition are serious about pledging funds.

Harpo Hookup days are underway. As a group, we're submitting our pleas to The Oprah Winfrey Show during the week of Oct. 10-16, 2004.

There are many talented members who have made videos, graphics, & power-point.

Miss Parker has done a fantastic job in keeping the group and other boards, groups, etc., informed of all of our activities.

Until next time.....

My Thoughts for Sept 18, 2004
As of Saturday, September 18, 2004, 9:15 p.m. EDT, in my part of the world, The Frustrated Pretender Fans Yahoo Group has 93 members. I hope these members are really serious about Campaign TPM! Some members have set their e-mail option to NO E-MAIL, which means they won't get important messages concerning the campaign! I respect their decision, but HOPE they check the posted messages regularly.

I had to remove some members because they were "bouncing" and were not included in the membership total any way.

We have 53 signatures on the Petitions Online site, which # 1, # 9, # 51, & # 52, SAID NO to pledging funds. So why in the &*@@ did these IDIOTS bother to sign the petition! It makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME to sign something you don't believe in. A few who said yes, posted comments like "they want to make sure the $$$$ will go to the movie" - WELL, DUH....

We have 63 signatures on the Gopetition site! I trust they all are pledging something.

We had a group chat on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 from 8pm-9pm EDT (Saturday Sept 18 - depending what part of the world you're in). There were problems with the Group's chat room so we ended up using MSN Messenger. We talked about Harpo Hookup.

I created a poll to see how many members would participate in the Harpo Hookup with the following options: YES, NO, WHAT'S HARPO HOOKUP? Of the 10 votes, 60% don't know what this is - we have our work cut out for us :-) I want to make sure everyone understands what we are doing and why Harpo Hookup is so important to our cause.

We have volunteers, including myself :-) to help make templates for Harpo Hookup. This will help those members whose first language is not English and those whose first language is English, to customize their story. We have to prove to Oprah's handlers that Pretender Fans are serious about getting another movie!

Miss Parker has created a Campaign TPM Gift shop (which I need to order my Ts) to support our cause. She also created Postcards to send to the Powers That Be - Maybe we can snail-mail them to The Oprah Winfrey Show :-)

That's it for now. Until Next Time.

UNITED WE STAND!

My Sept 1 2004 Update
I was finally able to sign the Petition Online! As of 9-1-2004, 32 signatures, even though some people have signed it a couple of times or more! Gopetition has 26 signatures! If only that were 2.6 million!

Frustrated Pretender Fans Yahoo Group has 69 members!

My website has been accepted by the Pretender Webring. I've also submitted the site's URL to ADD ME. I hope it gets added to the many search engines. I plan on incorporating Miss Parker's changes to the site.

I'm feeling good about this. Maybe in a month, we can ask the members of the group to submit our plea to Harpo Hook-up. We have to work out the logistics.

Until next time!

Petition Online
AHHHHHH! I have signed it THREE times and my name does not show up. First it said I was #1. Then the second time I tried, I believe I would have been #7. The third time I tried, I would have been #13. I checked back a few minutes later and someone else was #13!!!!

I'm beginning to think Petition Online doesn't like me! :-(

Until next time.

Mood:  not sure
Well, finally put the petition up, and so far I can't see my sig (or Qz's) but hopefully that will change soon!
It's going to be interesting to see how fast the pledges come in...I'm glad it's finally up so now we can start advertising the petition more and collecting signature pledges..I hope they will multiply fast!!

Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Campaign TPM
They're going to have two hours of Pretender in the morning from September 1st! How cool is that! Don't know how long it will last, but it's great to see! Now if only TNT would wise up and do more than just repeat the episodes...like make another movie for us fans!
I'm happy to note that the Campaign TPM is going somewhere...we have lots of enthusiastic new members to the FTpF group and some are even helping spread the word. Now I'm running home to catch JB on CSI if I can! Cheers!
